How do you wipe away your Monday blues? Write about Chris Evans, of course. Let me first say, I am a Marvel movie fan, who isn’t? My son and I often have movie dates. He would cringe, knowing I mentioned him and the word date together. That being said, Captain America is not my favorite of the movie franchise (Sorry! don’t come for me.) I’m thinking of starting a petition for Evans to star in a musical. Now that would be movie screen magic.
So why are you writing about Evans, you ask? In this turbulent time in our country, it sure would be nice to have a superhero save us from a ravishing virus and the hateful rhetoric dividing our nation. I can see the headline now. “Captain America For President.” The truth is, the man behind the tight uniform and beautiful blue eyes is a man of ethics and integrity. I’ve never met him in person, a total bummer, but I have paid attention to his platform and what he does with his following. Sure, he could post sexy pictures of himself all day long (Yes, please!), but he doesn’t.
Everyone knows the name, Chris Evans. His credentials are long, and his looks are striking, but most people stop there. Not me, no, no, what I find interesting is despite being raised catholic, his views are more pantheistic (the worship of all gods of different creeds, cults, or peoples indifferently.) Religion should not be hate-based with manipulating tendencies. This intrigues me to learn more about the man behind the Marvel.
Having recently started following him on Twitter https://twitter.com/ChrisEvans (Why does that sound so stalkerish?) I’ve realized the morality this man has. He gets behind political stances that most would shy away from based on the pure nature of the divide. He isn’t afraid to humanize right from wrong and encourage others to take a stance. It shows more courage than most. Some find it easier to stay silent to avoid tarnishing their brand. Not Chris, he is a force to be reckoned with.
Politics have become a dinner
conversation argument as of late. Have you ever unfriended a family member or acquaintance because of their staunch political views? I have heard oppositions tell people of Hollywood, to sit down and shut up, and do only what they are paid to do.
On the contrary, Mr. Evans is launching a website called A Starting Point to demystify politics. https://astartingpoint.com/ It allows Democrats and Republicans a place to showcase their positions. James Maddison famously said, ” You must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place, oblige it to control itself. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives.” I can only imagine what his Twitter feed would look like today.
What I have learned from Chris is:
Politics should unite instead of capitalizeon racists bigotry.
Voter suppression is real and shouldn’t be.
Love is love, regardless of gender.
Demand history be taught in its entirety
Our country is great because it allows citizens to vocalize injustices with the freedom of legality with a little thing called The First Amendment standing in their corner. Circling back to Chris, he has a huge fan base and uses it with compassion and empathy. He is far more than just a pretty face and a list of acting credits. He is America’s hero, in and out of the costume.
